Jose Sebastian, a native of New York City, started his dance training at age 8 with the School of American Ballet and continued training there for nearly 10 years. He received additional ballet training at Studio Maestro under the direction of Francois Perron and Deborah Wingert.
His performance experience includes Scenes de Ballet choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, 28 Variations on a Theme by Paganini by Benjamin Millepied and Square Dance, choreographed by George Balanchine and staged by Suki Schorer, among others.
Sebastian joined ABT II (now the ABT studio Company) in 2006 and American Ballet Theatre as an apprentice in January 2009 and became a member of the corps de ballet in January 2010. His repertoire with the Company includes Persian Man in The Golden Cockerel, the Spanish Dance in Alexei Ratmansky's The Nutcracker, a Fairy Cavalier and the English Prince in The Sleeping Beauty and the Spanish Dance in Swan Lake, Jaseion in Sylvia, as well as roles in Company B, Private Light, Raymonda Divertissements, Serenade after Plato's Symposium and Sinfonietta and roles in all of the Company's full-length ballets. He created roles in the first production of Aftereffect (2013) and the new production of AfterEffect (2015).
