A native of Saratoga, California, Karin Ellis-Wentz joined American Ballet Theatre as a member of the corps de ballet in 1999. Prior to joining ABT, Ellis-Wentz danced with the Atlanta Ballet, Boston Ballet and Het Nationale Ballet as a Grand Sujet. Her repertory with these companies included the Autumn, Winter and Spring Fairies in Cinderella, the Snow Queen in The Nutcracker, Ballerina in Petrouchka, the pas de trios in Balanchine’s Piano Concerto No. 2, and Princess Florine and the Fairy of
the Enchanted Garden in The Sleeping Beauty. She has also danced in Agon, Forsythe’s Artifact, York’s Celts, The Dream, Giselle, Paquita and Raymonda.
Ellis-Wentz was a two-time semi-finalist in the Prix de Lausanne.
Ellis-Wentz’s repertory with American Ballet Theatre includes the Aya in La Bayadère, the Mazurka Lady in Coppélia, an Odalisque in Le Corsaire, Helena in The Dream, the Lead Hungarian Dancer in Raymonda,Nurse in Romeo and Juliet, Silver in The Sleeping Beauty, the Lead Czardas in Swan Lake and roles in La Bayadère, Cinderella, Concerto No. 1 for Piano and Orchestra, Don Quixote, The Merry Widow, Theme and Variations and workwithinwork, among others. She created roles in Black Tuesday and Gong.
