Clear was given its World Premiere by American Ballet Theatre on October 25, 2001 at City Center in New York danced by Julie Kent, Angel Corella, Maxim Belotserkovsky and Marcelo Gomes.

The music for Clear is Bach’s Concerto for Violin and Oboe in c minor (reconstructed from the Concerto for Two Harpsichords in c minor, BMV 1060) and the first and second movements from the Violin Concerto in g minor (reconstructed from the Harpsichord Concerto in f minor, BMV 1056).
