Eliot Feld was born in New
York City and studied ballet at
New York City Ballet's School
of American Ballet. His career
as a dancer included roles on
Broadway and the film version
of West Side Story, as
well as performing with
American Ballet Theatre,
where he created his first
ballets, Harbinger and
At Midnight. In
1968, Feld left American
Ballet Theatre to form his own
group, the American Ballet
Company, which lasted three
years. It was re-formed as the
Eliot Feld Ballet in 1973 and
thereafter became a company
of international repute.Since
then, Feld has choreographed
mainly for his own company,
creating works that range from
costume mini-dramas, to
elegant piano ballets, to
modern pieces that mix
dancers with ramps and
trampolines. |
