The Sleeping Beauty (Ratmansky)
Born in Ukraine, Tatiana Ratmansky studied at the Kiev Ballet School from 1977-1985 when she joined the Ukrainian National Ballet in Kiev, rising to Soloist. She also danced with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet from 1993-1995 and then freelanced for two years (1995-1997).
Ratmanskaya also danced with the Royal Danish Ballet from 1999-2004 and with the Copenhagen International Ballet from 2003-2004.
Ratmanskaya created roles in Alexei Ratmansky’s Whipped Cream (1994), 98 Steps and Jurliberlu (1995), Sarabande (1996), Water (1999), Turandot’s Dram and The Nutcracker (2001), Bolero (2002) and Betsy in Anna Karenina (2004). She also danced the Old Lady in Old Lady Falling Down, with Alexei Ratmansky as the Old Man, for a Bolshoi Theatre Workshop.
She has guested with the Imperial Russian Ballet (1996-1997) and has taken part in Galas in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tokyo, Paris, Berlin, Bratislava, Prague and Vilnius.
Her staging credits include Ratmansky’s The Bright Stream for the Latvian National Opera (Riga, 2004), Bolero for the Bolshoi Theatre Choreographic Workshop (2004), Anna Karenina for the Lithuanian National Opera (Vilnius, 2005), Finnish National Ballet (Helsinki, 2006), Poland National Opera (Warsaw, 2008) and Maryinsky Theatre Russia (St. Petersburg, 2010) and Russian Seasons for Het National Ballet (Amsterdam, 2008).
Her staging of The Bright Stream for American Ballet Theatre is her first for the Company.
