Together with Bridget Breiner, Volpi created The Broadway Baby for Stuttgart Ballet Artistic Director Reid Anderson’s 60th Birthday gala in 2009. Volpi’s first commission for the Stuttgart Ballet, Big Blur, premiered at the Play House Theatre Stuttgart on March 31, 2009. In 2011, he won The Erik Bruhn Prize for Best Choreography for his pas de deux Little Monsters. He has also worked with the State Opera Stuttgart, choreographing its productions of La Juive in 2008 and Teseo in 2009. Private Light was Volpi’s first work for American Ballet Theatre.
