Jessica Lang is a graduate
of The Juilliard School (‘97) with a BFA in dance. Prior
to graduating, Ms. Lang became a member of Twyla Tharp's company
THARP! where
she performed in major dance festivals around the world. She also
worked with Ms. Tharp in her 1998 Diabelli Project that premiered
in Palermo, Italy.
Since she began choreographing in 1999, Lang's choreography has
been performed around the US and toured abroad including Japan,
Mexico, and South Africa. She has created work on companies such
as American Ballet Theatre's Studio Company, New York City Ballet
(selected for the Choreographic Institute), Colorado Ballet, Pennsylvania
Ballet, Richmond Ballet (Choo-San Goh Award 2003), Saint Louis
Ballet, Hubbard Street 2, Dallas Black Dance Theater, Phrenic New
Ballet, and Ballet de Monterrey in Mexico. She has also choreographed
on The Juilliard Dance Ensemble, The Ailey School/ Fordham BFA
Program, Princeton University, Texas Christian University and commercially
for BMW International Industrials. Lang has also worked for Cirque
Du Soleil where she served as the choreographer/evaluator for auditions.
In the summer of 2004, she premiered The Lang Project, her first
full evening concert of her work that was made possible, in part,
by the New York State DanceForce. The Lang Project was in residency
at the New Noises Festival at Perry-Mansfield in Colorado, June
2005. Upcoming commissions include a new work for the Centennial
Celebration Concert of The Juilliard School in February 2006 as
well as a return to Colorado Ballet.
Jessica Lang currently teaches modern at Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis
School at American Ballet Theatre. She is also on faculty for ABT’s
summer intensive program in NYC and Bermuda, and is a choreographer
for the company’s Make A Ballet Program.
