Saturday Matinee Pre-Performance Workshops
Share the wonder of dance with your entire family as American Ballet
Theatre presents its ABTKids Workshop series, a series
of exciting and informative children’s workshops to selected
ABT performance at the Metropolitan Opera House.
Each workshop highlights a particular Saturday morning or matinee
performance and prepares children ages 12 and below to fully engage
in the magic that happens on the stage of the Met. Divided into
groups according to age, children participate in activities directed
by ABT Teaching Artists. Children are guided through a ballet warm-up
and taught a short piece of choreography based on that day’s
scheduled performance. In past workshops, children tried their hand
at the basics of stage dueling from Romeo and Juliet and
bounded through the Fan Dance from Don Quixote.
There is no need for any prior dance background, as we welcome
all to experience the joy of dancing. While all participants should
be comfortably dressed and prepared to move, many will enjoy dancing
in their favorite dance wear or costumes.
Workshop Dates and Tickets
Tickets for the workshops are priced at $20 for each child and $20
for each adult, and are available for immediate online purchase.
