James F. Ingalls was the Resident Lighting Designer for the American Repertory Theater from 1981 to 1984. He has created the lighting designs for

Orlando, directed by Peter Sellars, Marsha Norman’s
‘night Mother and
Traveler in the Dark, Jules Fieffer’s
Grown Ups, Sganarelle, directed by Andrei Serban, the first Hasty Pudding season (
True West and Robert Auletta’s
Rundown),
Waiting for Godot, directed by Andrei Belgrader,
The Boys from Syracuse, The Marriage of Figaro, and
The Seven Deadly Sins, all directed by Alvin Epstein.
In recent seasons, his credits include
A Midsummer Night’s Dream, directed by Martha Clarke and
The Children of Herakles, directed by Peter Sellars. This New Production of
Onegin is Ingalls’ first work to enter American Ballet Theatre’s repertory.
