As a former American Ballet Theatre dancer, now mother of my two-year old son and faculty member at the ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, I’m excited to share my experiences about one of the ABT JKO School’s newest programs for two and three-year olds, ABTots. Launched in 2018, the program has reached far beyond my expectations! Like most moms, I was eager to see my little one interact with other tots his age and experience the joy of music, movement and gentle instruction, while I was right by his side. Together, we looked forward to each class progression with seasonal themes including some based on ABT’s full-length classical ballets.
Each class was age appropriate and carefully planned and executed. My son gained new skills, better focus and fundamental appreciation for music and movement. Additionally, we both experienced positive interactions with other children, parents and caregivers.
The culture at the ABT JKO School is warm, engaging, accepting and family friendly. I highly recommend ABTots to moms and caregivers that may be searching for a fun and engaging program that introduces little ones to ballet.
