Gemma Bond creates a new “tutu ballet” for the ages, an abstract work yet brimming with emotion, to music by Ottorino Respighi after Gioachino Rossini, and featuring striking set and costume designs by Jean-Marc Puissant, with lighting by Clifton Taylor.
Kyle Abraham’s first work for American Ballet Theatre presents and highlights our dancers in his unique style, with dynamic phrase work and an interweaving of classical and contemporary vocabularies. This thoughtful, witty work propels ABT’s dancers to new realms, revealing a side to them that will surprise and excite our audiences.
Harold Lander’s Études is an exhilarating tribute to the art form of classical ballet. Set to music by Carl Czerny, arranged by Knudåge Riisager, Études ingeniously illustrates the development of a dancer’s technique and artistry, from the regimen of exercises at the barre, to the dazzling heights of virtuosic technique. This ballet truly showcases the strength, virtuosity, and dynamism of the entire Company.
Join ABT for a post-performance toast to celebrate the 2024 Fall season.
Following the October 16 performance, raise a glass with ABT dancers and Artistic staff in honor of choreographers Kyle Abraham and Gemma Bond.
Please note that a separate post-performance toast ticket is required in addition to the ballet performance ticket to attend the event.
