Othello is a sweeping, three-act dance from American Ballet Theatre that reimagines Shakespeare’s tragic tale of jealousy and betrayal through the bold choreography of Lar Lubovitch and an original score by Elliot Goldenthal. The work tells the story of the Moorish general Othello, who is manipulated by Iago, a soldier in Othello’s ranks, into believing that his beloved wife, Desdemona, has been unfaithful. Consumed by jealousy and rage, Othello spirals into madness, ultimately killing Desdemona before learning the truth of her innocence.
Celebrate with us! On select evenings during our Fall 2025 season, ABT invites audiences to join special post-performance toasts in honor of landmark premieres and Company milestones. These celebratory gatherings take place on the Promenade at the David H. Koch Theater and are open to all ticket holders who purchase an additional toast ticket in advance.
On March 6, experience the return of Lar Lubovitch’s sweeping, full-length Othello, then join us for a toast on the Promenade honoring the opening of ABT’s inaugural Spring season at the Koch Theater.
