ABT Studio Company and FLOWER Screening

Flower: A film presented by Misty Copeland with opening performance by ABT Studio Company

ABT Principal Dancer Misty Copeland joins ABT Studio Company, of which Copeland is an alumna, to celebrate the future of ballet. The dancers of ABT Studio Company will open with a dynamic performance of bold new works and favorite classical excerpts. Following the live performance, Copeland will screen her short film Flower, a ballet-on-film that tells the story of a family caregiver struggling with housing insecurity in Oakland, California.

Flower premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2023 and was screened at major film festivals across the United States, as well as at the White House. It was nominated for an NAACP Image Award.

Copeland will conclude the evening in conversation with the audience to explore how ballet can grow and evolve to meet this moment. A reception with access to the DR Center gallery exhibition, Sketching Light: Chagall’s Windows for Union Church, will follow.
