Of all the great classics performed by ABT today, Swan Lake remains the quintessential ballet. When the evil sorcerer von Rothbart casts a spell on Odette, a beautiful princess, she is condemned to live as a swan – except during the hours of darkness, when she returns to human form. One moonlit night, she meets Prince Siegfried, whose love may hold the key to breaking the spell and changing the course of her destiny. But whether their love can overcome von Rothbart’s power is a question only fate can answer.
Set to Tchaikovsky’s magnificent and enduring score, ABT’s production of Swan Lake brings together the drama, romance, and iconic imagery that have made this ballet one of the most beloved works in the classical repertoire.
