Courtney Cochran is a New York City based dancer, teacher, choreographer, and Pilates practitioner. She grew up training in Sacramento, California and was chosen as an emerging choreographer for Regional Dance America’s 2008 Festival. Courtney has received training from Sacramento Ballet, Alvin Ailey, Lines Ballet, Ballet X, and Dance Theatre of Harlem.
Cochran spent four seasons with Brooklyn Ballet and has been a guest artist with Gleich Dances, konverjdans, The Black Iris Project, Collage Dance Collective, Columbia City Ballet, and Dance Theatre of Harlem. In 2019 she was nominated for Dance Lab New York’s collaboration with The Joyce Theatre where her work was featured at Works & Process at the Guggenheim. She most recently created a piece for Works & Process Artists Virtual Commission Series entitled From cage of teeth and jaw. She has been on faculty at Brooklyn Ballet, The Billie Holiday Theatre, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Harlem School of the Arts, and is excited to be joining American Ballet Theatre in the fall of 2021.
