Biography

Ryan J. O’Gara has designed extensively in the dance world for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Hubbard Street 2, MOMIX, Cedar Lake Ensemble, Dance Works-Chicago, Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, Luna Negra Dance Theatre, Knuckle Heads Zoo at the New Victory Theatre, Revolution at the Joyce and the Nike Rockstar Workout with Jamie King. O’Gara’s numerous theatre credits include designs that have been seen at the Bristol Riverside Theatre, NYU/Playwrights Horizons, Westbeth Theatre Center and such shows as David Straussman’s Dummy, Straight to Hell. O’Gara has also designed for The Sonnet Repertory Company where he was recently honored as the first recipient of their annual Sonnet Award. On Broadway he has served as the Associate Lighting Designer for To Be or Not To Be, Cry Baby, Gypsy, Xanadu, LoveMusik and Avenue Q (including London, Vegas Productions and the National Tour). O’Gara is currently working with Blue Man Group and Counts Media on a new multimedia theatrical experience called The Ride-NYC. O’Gara is a graduate of the School of Design and Production from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
