COVID-19 Safety Policy and Procedures
American Ballet Theatre prioritizes the health and safety of our audiences, dancers, and staff.
For all in-person performance, ABT works closely to follow the health and safety protocols of our presenting venues based on CDC and local guidelines.
2022 Summer performances at the Metropolitan Opera House will be seated with no social distancing. Additional safety measures include rigorous cleaning and sanitation protocols and a contactless entrance experience for ticket holders.
For 2022 Summer performances at the Metropolitan Opera House, all ticket holders must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. You are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after you have received a second dose in a two-dose vaccine or two weeks after you have received a single-dose vaccine.
All audience members must provide in-person proof of vaccination against Covid-19 with a vaccine approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or by the World Health Organization (WHO):
- Pfizer / BioNtech Comirnaty
- Moderna
- Johnson & Johnson / Janssen
- AstraZeneca
- SII/Covishield
- Sinopharm
- Sinovac-CoronaVac
- Covaxin
Audiences will be required to maintain appropriate face coverings in accordance with current CDC guidelines when attending performances.
Vaccines are now available for children ages 5 to 11, and fully vaccinated children are welcome to attend performances beginning two weeks after receiving their final dose. Photo ID for children under 12 will not be required as long as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian with valid photo ID.
Negative Covid tests for audience members, including children, will not be accepted as an alternative to vaccination proof.
Specific health and safety protocols are determined by the Metropolitan Opera House and American Ballet Theatre and are subject to change. We will strive to communicate substantial changes to health and safety protocols in advance of performances.
In addition, ABT has revised its ticket exchange and refund policy for the 2022 Summer Season to provide more flexibility.
Thank you for your understanding as we endeavor to keep our audiences and artists safe. Please check back for updates on our most current protocol, which is subject to change.
