FINAL TWO WEEKS OF
AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE'S
2011 SPRING SEASON AT
METROPOLITAN OPERA HOUSE
Jose Manuel Carreño to Give Final New York Performance
with ABT, Thursday, June 30 at 7:30 P.M.
Guest Artist Johan Kobborg to Perform Prince Désiré
in The Sleeping Beauty, Friday, July 8 at 7:30 P.M.

Casting for the seventh and eighth weeks of American Ballet Theatre’s 2011 Spring Season at the Metropolitan Opera House was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie.
On Monday evening, June 27, the Company will give the first of eight performances of Swan Lake, with Irina Dvorovenko, Maxim Beloserkovsky and Marcelo Gomes in the leading roles. Alexandre Hammoudi will dance the role of von Rothbart (Act III) for the first time on Friday, July 1. Guest Artist Polina Semionova will make her ABT debut as Odette-Odile on Saturday evening, July 2, opposite David Hallberg as Prince Siegfried. Jose Manuel Carreño will give his final New York performance with ABT on Thursday, June 30, in the role of Prince Siegfried, opposite Julie Kent as Odette and Gillian Murphy as Odile. Choreographed by Kevin McKenzie after Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, Swan Lake is set to a score by Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky and features scenery and costumes by Zack Brown. This production has been generously underwritten by R. Chemers Neustein. Costumes for Swan Lake are generously sponsored by the Ellen Everett Kimiatek Costume Preservation Trust.
The season’s first performance of The Sleeping Beauty on Tuesday, July 5 will be led by Veronika Part as Princess Aurora, Marcelo Gomes as Prince Désiré, Stella Abrera as the Lilac Fairy and Martine van Hamel as Carabosse. Hee Seo will debut as the Lilac Fairy on Thursday, July 7. At the matinee on Wednesday, July 6, Cory Stearns will replace Herman Cornejo as Prince Désiré, dancing opposite Xiomara Reyes. Guest Artist Johan Kobborg will replace Cornejo on Friday, July 8, performing the role of Prince Désiré for the first time with ABT, opposite Alina Cojocaru as Princess Aurora. Staged by Kevin McKenzie, Gelsey Kirkland and Michael Chernov, after choreography by Marius Petipa, The Sleeping Beauty is set to a score by Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky and features sets by Tony Walton, costumes by Willa Kim, with additional costume designs by Holly Hynes, and lighting by Richard Pilbrow and Dawn Chiang. This production of The Sleeping Beauty received its World Premiere at the Metropolitan Opera House on June 1, 2007. Joan Taub Ades and Alan M.
