From the pirate adventures of Le Corsaire to the candy-coated fantasy of Whipped Cream, American Ballet Theatre invited audiences to a new world each night of its 64-performance season at the Metropolitan Opera House. We reminisced by counting some of the most memorable moments of ABT’s 2019 Met season below.

Years since ABT last performed On the Dnieper. The dramatic one-act ballet was the first work Alexei Ratmansky created for ABT after joining the Company as Artist in Residence.

Number of costume designs created by Robert Perdziola for Ratmansky’s newest ballet, The Seasons. Vivid colors and romantic shapes swept the dancers through Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall in an artful whirlwind onstage.

Number of students from the American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School and ABT Studio Company who performed as supernumeraries onstage at the Met this season. They portrayed a myriad of roles alongside ABT dancers in six of the season’s ballets: Harlequinade, The Seasons, Whipped Cream, Le Corsaire, Manon, Swan Lake and The Sleeping Beauty.

Number of songs by The Beach Boys featured in Twyla Tharp’s Deuce Coupe. Her 1973 hit combining classical ballet and contemporary social dancing received its Company Premiere by ABT this spring to rave reviews.

Year when Charlotte Brontë’s novel Jane Eyre was first published. Now 172 years later, the classic tale lives on with Cathy Marston’s ballet of the same name. Three different casts of ABT Principal Dancers learned and performed Jane Eyre for the first time in June.

Number of Guest Artists who appeared with the Company this spring. Guest Artist Brooklyn Mack brought power and finesse to two different roles in four performances of Le Corsaire.

Number of corps de ballet dancers promoted to the rank of Soloist at the end of the season. Joo Won Ahn wowed audiences with explosive technique as Ali in Le Corsaire, while Aran Bell made regal debuts as Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake and Prince Désiré in The Sleeping Beauty.
