ABT to Hold Open Auditions for
Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School
Children's Division on
Saturday, May 19 at 2 P.M. and 3:30 P.M.

American Ballet Theatre’s Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School will hold open auditions for its Children’s Division at 2pm and 3:30pm on Saturday, May 19 at ABT’s 890 Broadway studios in New York City. Children ages 7 to 12 are eligible to attend.

The Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School Children’s Division is a ballet program for children ages 4-12 that promotes discipline and creativity while encouraging each child to reach their highest potential. Classes focus on building a solid foundation in ballet technique with an emphasis on proper placement and safe progressions of movement while remaining sensitive to the developmental needs of younger dancers. The Children’s Division is under the direction of JKO School Principal Franco De Vita and JKO School Assistant Principal and Director of Children’s Division Melissa Allen Bowman.

The audition class for students ages 7-9 will begin at 2pm. The audition for students aged 10 and older will begin at 3:30pm. Students must turn age 8 by September 15 to enroll. Registration will begin one hour prior to the audition time.

Girls attending the audition should wear full-length pink tights and a solid color leotard with ballet slippers. Boys should wear a white leotard or t-shirt, black shorts and ballet slippers. The registration fee is $15 and students should bring an informal
