Student Life & Wellness
The success of any artist depends on a critical life balance. ABT’s commitment to holistic training is demonstrated in the National Training Curriculum and The Healthy Dancer handbook, established in 2008. In cultivating the next generation of professional dancers, Student Life and Wellness at the ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School and ABT Studio Company, led by Dean of Students Aubrey Lynch II, will continue to ensure that four pillars of Student Life are considered: training, physical health, mental health, and life skills.
These four pillars help to address the needs of the whole student. Developing life skills outside of the dance studio is crucial. Dancers need tools for injury prevention, management, and recovery. Establishing healthy nutritional habits is essential for developing strong bodies and minds. Mental health awareness and management are critical complements to high-level ballet training. Student Life and Wellness at the ABT JKO School and ABT Studio Company points pre-professional students towards a life of success, onstage and off.
