Casting for the seventh and eighth weeks of American Ballet Theatre’s 2012 Spring Season at the Metropolitan Opera House was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie.

The first of eight performances of Swan Lake will be given on June 25, led by Veronika Part, Cory Stearns and Marcelo Gomes. Isabella Boylston and Daniil Simkin will debut in the leading roles at the matinee on Wednesday #44; June 27. Vadim Muntagirov will dance the role of Prince Siegfried for the first time with ABT at the matinee on Saturday, June 30. Angel Corella will give his final performance with ABT on Thursday, June 28, dancing opposite Paloma Herrera as Odette/Odile. Choreographed by Kevin McKenzie after Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, Swan Lake is set to a score by Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky and features scenery and costumes by Zack Brown. Swan Lake has been generously underwritten by R. Chemers Neustein. Costumes for Swan Lake are generously sponsored by the Ellen Everett Kimiatek Costume Preservation Trust.

The season will conclude with seven performances of Le Corsaire beginning Monday, July 2. Daniil Simkin will make his debut as Ali, the Slave on Tuesday, July 3. At the matinee performance on Wednesday, July 4, Veronika Part and Ivan Vasiliev will perform the roles of Medora and Ali, respectively, for the first time with ABT and Joseph Phillips will debut as Birbanto. The performance on Thursday, July 5 will feature Natalia Osipova in her ABT debut as Medora and debuts by Johan Kobborg as Conrad and Arron Scott as Birbanto. Herman Cornejo will dance the role of Conrad for the first time on Friday, July 6. Ethan Stiefel will give his final performance with ABT on Saturday, July 7 in the role of Ali, the Slave. With choreography by Konstantin Sergeyev after Marius Petipa, and staging by Anna-Marie Holmes after Petipa and Sergeyev, Le Corsaire features music by Adolphe Adam, Cesare Pugni, LƒÜ¬©o Delibes, Riccardo Drigo and Prince Oldenbourg. Based on the Lord Byron poem “The Corsair” (1814), the ballet has sets and costumes by Irina Tibilova with additional costume designs by Robert Perdziola. American Ballet Theatre’s performances of Le Corsaire are generously underwritten through an endowed gift from Irene and Fred Shen.
