Omar Mir

NEW YORK, NY — American Ballet Theatre announced the appointment of Dr. Omar Mir to its Board of Trustees.

Renowned for its artistic excellence and international stature, American Ballet Theatre has built a global reputation through decades of touring that bring the highest caliber of ballet to audiences worldwide. From landmark performances throughout Europe to engagements in South Korea, China, and Dubai, ABT continues to serve as a cultural ambassador, sharing the artistry and storytelling of ballet across the world.

Dr. Mir’s global leadership experience aligns naturally with American Ballet Theatre’s international reach and its long-standing role as a cultural ambassador. He brings more than 25 years of global technology and organizational leadership experience, having spearheaded transformative initiatives across the UK, Europe, the United States, and the Middle East. He currently serves as the International Board Member of World Wide Technology (WWT), the largest privately owned technology company in the United States, and sits on the boards of several U.S.-owned companies at the forefront of emerging technology.

In addition to his corporate leadership, Dr. Mir is the King’s Trust International Advisor on AI and Advanced Technology, where he provides strategic guidance to drive innovation and growth in support of young people worldwide. He is also Principal Benefactor and Founding Principal Benefactor of the Trust’s Generation Potential campaign, which aims to support one million young people over the next decade through expanded global digital access.

“Omar brings a global perspective and a strong record of leadership that align with American Ballet Theatre’s mission,” said Melissa Smith, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “His experience across international markets and emerging technologies will be an asset as ABT continues to expand its reach and strengthen the organization for the future.”

With decades of experience scaling global organizations, Dr. Mir sees a natural alignment between the rigor of ballet and the demands of executive leadership. “At its core, ballet is about discipline, precision, and relentless commitment to excellence, the same principles that drive great companies,” said Mir. “I’m honored to support an organization and artists that embody those values so powerfully.”
