This month, ABT dancers are returning to New York for rehearsals ahead of our Fall Season at the David H. Koch Theater, October 17-28. We asked some of them why they love living and performing in New York City. Read their responses below and get ready to fall in love with New York too!
“New York unites audiences from around the world. I love traveling around the world, but I love how the world comes to New York.”
“My fiancé and I have a fun habit where every weekend we set out to explore different and hidden places of New York. What I enjoy about this is you can never see enough. New York has so much to offer, it’s never a bore.”
“My favorite thing about New York is how diverse each and every individual is. Because of that, I am most comfortable expressing who I am here!”
“I love experiencing the different seasons in New York. In the fall, I always look forward to seeing shows at New York City Center’s Fall for Dance Festival and the variety of different dance backgrounds they bring together. My favorite season is winter, and I love walking around the Holiday Street Markets. Performing at the Met for eight weeks during ABT’s Spring Season is definitely a (tiring) favorite of mine. And during the summer months, I like to escape the congestion of people with bike rides along the Hudson River at sunset.”
“I love New York because it has an energy like no other city in the world. The fast pace, the people, and the culture make it one of the most vibrant places in the USA. Dancing with ABT on NYC’s most iconic stages really is a ‘pinching myself’ kind of moment. New York City is a place of endless opportunities and a place that I am happy to call home.”
