ABT to Hold Open Auditions
for ABT Studio Company 2012-2013 Season
Sunday, January 22 in Long Beach, California
and Saturday, March 3 in New York City

American Ballet Theatre will hold open auditions for the ABT Studio Company on Sunday, January 22, 2012, in Long Beach, California and Saturday, March 3, 2012, in
New York City. The ABT Studio Company is a pre-professional program made up of dancers of outstanding potential, under the direction of ABT Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School Principal Franco DeVita.

The mission of American Ballet Theatre’s Studio Company is to train young dancers in preparation for entering ABT’s main Company or other leading national and international professional ballet companies. To audition for the ABT Studio Company, dancers must be between the ages of 16-19 years old and have reached an advanced level of ballet training. Space is extremely limited.

The first open audition for the ABT Studio Company will be held at California State University, Long Beach Department of Dance in Long Beach, CA on Sunday, January 22 in conjunction with the ABT Summer Intensive audition. Registration begins at 3pm, and the audition class starts at 4pm. A $30 audition fee is required. A second open audition will be held Saturday, March 3 in New York City at ABT’s studios. Registration begins at 1:45pm and the audition class starts at 2:30pm.

Dancers attending an audition should bring a current resume that includes height and date of birth, a photograph in first arabesque and a headshot. The audition will consist of technique, partnering and American Ballet Theatre repertory. Dancers attending the open auditions for the ABT Studio Company should visit www.abt.org for information on dress codes and video auditions.

The California State University, Long Beach Department of Dance is located at
1250 Bellflower Blvd, Long Beach, CA. The studios of American Ballet Theatre are located at 890 Broadway, New York, NY.
