ACTRESS VICTORIA ROWELL TO HOST
ABT STUDIO COMPANY 10TH ANNIVERSARY GALA,
THURSDAY, APRIL 21 AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER

ABT Studio Company alumna, actress Victoria Rowell, will be the Mistress of Ceremonies at the Studio Company’s 10th Anniversary Gala at 8 P.M. on Thursday, April 21 at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Currently starring in the daytime drama The Young and the Restless, Rowell joined American Ballet Theatre’s school on scholarship in 1977 and danced with ABT II, a forerunner of the ABT Studio Company. Rowell was born in Portland, Maine and was raised in the foster care system. She received a Ford Foundation scholarship to attend the Cambridge School of Ballet and later studied under scholarship at the School of American Ballet and Dance Theatre of Harlem. She danced professionally with ABT II, Ballet Hispanico and the Twyla Tharp Workshop. Following her dance career, Rowell established herself as a model and actress, securing a recurring role on The Cosby Show. Rowell also co-starred with Dick Van Dyke on the CBS series Diagnosis Murder for eight seasons, while continuing her work on The Young and the Restless. During her 15-year career in the role of Drucilla Winters on Y&R, Rowell received an Emmy-nomination and has been the recipient of seven NAACP Awards. In addition, she founded The Rowell Foster Children’s Positive Plan, which enriches foster children through artistic and athletic expression.

The ABT Studio Company’s gala evening, co-hosted by John Meehan, will include World Premieres by choreographers Brian Reeder and Jessica Lang and special appearances by Studio Company alumni Michele Wiles, Herman Cornejo and Susan Jaffe, among others. Tickets can be purchased through CenterCharge at 212-721-6500 or at www.jalc.org.
