AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE ANNOUNCES FREDERIC M. SEEGAL CHALLENGE GRANT

American Ballet Theatre announced today a $400,000 Challenge Grant issued by newly appointed President of the Board of Trustees, Frederic M. Seegal.

Seegal initiated the $400,000 challenge grant program to raise funds for American Ballet Theatre over the next two years. The Frederic M. Seegal Challenge Grant will match new or upgraded unrestricted donations to ABT up to $400,000. The Seegal Challenge Grant, issued today, will raise revenues for ABT’s general operating fund.

Seegal has served as Managing Executive at Stephens Financial Group since September of 2002. Prior to joining Stephens Financial, he was President and Managing Director of Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein.

In addition to his involvement with ABT, Seegal also serves on the Board of the San Francisco Opera, the Newburger Museum, as well as the Museum of Television and Radio Media Center. Seegal joined ABT’s Board of Governing Trustees in 2003 and was appointed President of the Board in June of this year.

In issuing the Challenge, Seegal said, “The response last year from the ABT community to the Wilson Challenge Grant was so extraordinary that I am pleased to continue that tradition this year and hope we will be able to raise over a million dollars for ABT.”

ABT Board Chairman Lewis S. Ranieri said, “Fred Seegal’s generosity and commitment to the Company is unparalleled. He is fiercely dedicated to ABT’s mission of bringing performances and educational programs of the highest quality to the widest possible audiences. As President of the Board, Seegal’s impeccable financial expertise and passion for the arts, will serve as an extraordinary asset to the Company as we work together to further the expansion of ABT.”
