EQUINOX FITNESS CLUBS NAMED OFFICIAL FITNESS PARTNER FOR AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE
American Ballet Theatre has teamed up with Equinox Fitness Clubs in a unique partnership to complement ABT’s overall Wellness Program. The partnership was announced today by Kevin McKenzie, ABT Artistic Director and David Harris, Director of Personal Training for Equinox Fitness Clubs.
In becoming the official fitness partner of American Ballet Theatre, Equinox Fitness Clubs will provide ABT’s dancers and Studio Company members access to its 22 fitness facilities across the country and the knowledge and expertise of its elite core of Personal Trainers and specialized Programming. Additionally, members of the Equinox Training staff will work with Peter Marshall, ABT’s Physical Therapist, to design individualized fitness programs to build strength, core stability and endurance, with the goal of injury prevention.
American Ballet Theatre’s new partnership with Equinox Fitness Clubs complements ABT’s comprehensive Wellness Program, which includes physical and massage therapy for injury prevention, orthopedic consultation with Dr. William Hamilton and Dr. Phillip Bauman, weight and nutrition counseling, and drug and alcohol intervention. ABT’s Wellness Programs have provided additional preventative care including lectures on health issues for dancers, bone density testing and annual flu vaccinations.
“This partnership, as a new component to ABT’s Wellness Program, will help insure the health and physical well-being of our dancers for years to come,” said McKenzie. “Equinox has built its reputation on providing award-winning, quality fitness centers at locations in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Our dancers will now be able to utilize Equinox facilities while rehearsing at our home studios and during engagements on ABT’s national tour.”
David Harris, Director of Personal Training for Equinox Fitness, said, “It’s a great partnership that furthers Equinox’s commitment to lifestyle programming while providing technical support to one of the country’s most esteemed dance companies.”
