Carolyn Zettel-Augustyn has dedicated nearly four decades to her extensive career as a ballet educator, director, examiner, adjudicator, and consultant. She commenced her distinguished teaching journey in 1982 with the establishment and leadership of the Academy of Dance in Waterloo, Ontario. Over the subsequent 25 years, her Academy gained a reputation for providing exceptional dance training.
Zettel-Augustyn is an ABT Affiliate Teacher for levels ranging from Pre-Primary through Level 7 and Partnering of the ABT National Training Curriculum, along with serving as an ABT National Training Curriculum Examiner. Her choreography has garnered numerous awards, and she holds an esteemed ABT Fellowship. Recognized for her expertise, she has been frequently invited to guest teach at various institutions across the USA and Canada.
In addition to her ballet accomplishments, Zettel-Augustyn is a certified teacher with the Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association (CDTA) and has been honored with Life-Time Membership status. During her association with CDTA, she held the position of Chair of the Ballet Division and contributed as a member of the Examiner Syllabus Committee. Furthermore, she is a Certified Yoga Teacher and Music Together Teacher.
In 2011, Zettel-Augustyn founded the Classical School of Ballet LI, New York, where she served and held the position of Director until her retirement in 2024. She continues to maintain a strong connection with the school, holding the title of Director and Founder, Emerita.
Presently, Zettel-Augustyn continues to impart her knowledge by teaching and consulting for ballet schools in both Canada and the USA.
