Carolyn Zettel-Augustyn

Carolyn Zettel-Augustyn is the director of Classical School of Ballet LI, New York and is an ABT Examiner and Fellow. She is an ABT Affiliate Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 7 of the ABT National Training Curriculum and has successfully presented students for examinations.

Her early training was in Waterloo and Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and she received a scholarship from her teacher to attend Washington School of Ballet, Washington, DC.

Zettel-Augustyn holds a life-time membership with Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association and held the position as Ontario Branch Ballet Chair. Additionally, she was a member of the Examiner Syllabus Committee that was responsible for the development and implementation of a National Syllabi. Zettel-Augustyn is also a former member of the Society of Russian Style Ballet Schools.

She has guest taught for conventions and workshops and is an adjudicator for ballet festivals.

From 1983 to 2006, she directed her own ballet school in Canada which became recognized as one of the finest private ballet schools in Southern Ontario. Her school received accolades from some of Canada’s most distinguished masters including Arnold Spohr, former artistic director of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and Betty Oliphant, co-founder of the National Ballet School of Canada.

Many of her students have secured positions as professional dancers and choreographers.

Zettel-Augustyn is honored to be a part of the ABT National Training Curriculum.
