Biography
Christopher Carr was born in Yorkshire and trained at both the Junior and Senior Royal Ballet Schools before graduating into the touring company of The Royal Ballet (later Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet and now The Birmingham Royal Ballet) in August 1967. He spent three years with this company, and
then transferred to the resident company at Covent Garden in 1970. He was promoted to Soloist in September 1975.
His roles with the company included the Choreographer in The Seven Deadly Sins, the pas de quatre and the Neapolitan Dance in Swan Lake, the Chinese Dance in The Nutcracker, the Mandolin Dance in Romeo and Juliet, George Robertson Sinclair in Enigma Variations and an Officer and the Brother in Anastasia.
In September 1983 he became Assistant Ballet Master and, in 1984, Repetiteur to The Royal Ballet. He was appointed Ballet Master in 1988.
These stagings of The Dream and La Fille Mal Gardée are Carr’s first work for American Ballet Theatre.
