Jenna Bitterman

Biography

Jenna Bitterman graduated from The Hartt School at the University of Hartford with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance pedagogy. During her time in Hartford, she taught in the pre-professional and outreach programs at the School of Dance Connecticut. She also performed with Mikhail Baryshnikov on his solo tour; with the American Ballet Theatre Studio Company in Kirk Peterson’s “Nutcracker”; Dance Connecticut (Hartford Ballet); the Connecticut Opera; and as a guest artist with Eastern Connecticut Ballet. She danced professionally with Virginia Ballet Theatre and was a dancer and assistant to the artistic director with New Dance Group Company in New York. Ms. Bitterman was on faculty in the Dance Department at Old Dominion University, and on staff at the New York State Summer School of Ballet in Saratoga Springs, NY where she also had the opportunity to teach. She has taught in the ABT Young Dancer Summer Workshop in New York and San Jose, was a guest faculty member at the 10th Regional High School Dance Festival in Norfolk, Virginia, and is a regular guest teacher at Olympia Dance Center’s summer intensive in Washington State. Ms. Bitterman began working in the Department of Education and Training at American Ballet Theatre in 2008 and was the Manager of ABT’s National Training Curriculum. She is currently on faculty in the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School Children’s Division, an ABT Affiliate Teacher and on ABT’s Artistic Board of Examiners. Jenna Bitterman is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 7 and Partnering of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.
