Biography

Hailing from northern England, legendary make-up artist Kabuki has made his name working in television, film, and fashion. With inspiration from his friendship with Errol Le Cain, Kabuki was an accomplished artist by his teens. His flair for outlandish dress and make-up led him to the New York City club scene, which led to modelling on European runways for Thierry Mugler and performing in Blacklips with Anohni. Catching the eye of Patricia Field, he established the make-up look for Sarah Jessica Parker on Sex and the City.

He then went on to work as a make-up artist in feature films (Party Monster, Palindromes) and television (Russian Doll). Kabuki has worked with many pop stars (Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Gwen Stefani, Katy Perry, Michael Jackson), actresses (Florence Pugh, Keke Palmer, Julia Garner, Ana De Armas), and with many of today’s leading photographers (Steven Klein, Albert Watson, Emma Summerton, Mark Seliger, Inez and Vinoodh, Mert + Marcus).

Kabuki’s shoots have appeared in nearly all the major fashion magazines, as well as in advertising projects and beauty shoots, including campaigns for Nike, Burberry, Kenzo, Tom Ford, Shiseido, Smashbox, and more. His work has appeared in many major fashion magazines and on runways in New York, London, Milan, and Paris. His work for the stage includes both Wayne McGregor’s Dyad 1909 and Woolf Works.

In 2017, Kabuki toured the world promoting his “Makeup Masters Collection” with MAC. Kabuki divides his time between New York City and Saugerties in upstate New York.
