Lucy Carter has worked as a lighting designer for over twenty years, producing unique, eclectic, and critically acclaimed lighting designs. Carter has worked with ballet companies American Ballet Theatre, Alvin Ailey, San Francisco Ballet, New York City Ballet, The Australian Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada, Royal Danish Ballet, Scottish Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet, Boston Ballet, and Joffrey Ballet. Recent productions with Wayne McGregor include The Dante Project, McGregor + Mugler, Autobiography, Multiverse, Woolf Works, Tetractys, and Raven Girl. Opera lighting includes Orphée (English National Opera), Werther (Bergen National Opera), Katya Kabanova and Hansel and Gretel (Royal Opera), La finta giardiniera (Glyndebourne, La Scala), and Peter Grimes on Aldeburgh Beach. Theatre includes Wicked (Hamburg), 2:22 A Ghost Story (Noël Coward Theatre), Coriolanus (Crucible Theatre), On the Town (Hyogo), Everybody’s Talking About Jamie (Apollo Theatre and UK tour), Home I’m Darling, Husbands and Sons, Medea, and Emil and the Detectives (National Theatre), Fiddler on the Roof (Grange Park Opera), and Oil (Almeida). She received the Knight of Illumination Award for Dance for Chroma and for Woolf Works.
