Ravi Deepres

Biography

Ravi Deepres is an award-winning artist renowned internationally for his film, photographic, and digital media work. His work involves themes of identity, the use of historical archives, psychology, and the subconscious, expressed through conceptual documentary and choreographic and kinetically employed aesthetics. His work embraces the potential of collaboration and pushes the boundaries of technology in creating new artistic languages. His collaborations, with choreographers including Wayne McGregor, Saburo Teshigawara, and Michael Clark and directors including Phyllida Lloyd, have been seen at the Palais Garnier, Royal Opera House, Edinburgh Festival, and venues around the world. With McGregor, Deepres has produced photography and film for Sulphur 16, Qualia, Genus, Entity, Atomos, The BRIT Awards 2016: Opening Sequence, AFTERITE, LOR, and MADDADDAM, in addition to acting as co-director, cinematographer, and animation designer for the film of Atomos in 2017.

His work has been commissioned and exhibited in group and solo shows across the United Kingdon and internationally, including at Hatton Gallery, Magnum photos, Impressions gallery, Ikon Gallery, Cornerhouse, The Lowry, Recontres Arles, Deloitte Ignite, Guanzhou Photography Festival, and Film and Video Umbrella.
