The Future Starts Now
American Ballet Theatre premiered ABT Today: The Future Starts Now on Monday, November 23 at 7:00pm ET. This online celebration, offered for free to fans around the world on ABT’s YouTube Channel, featured four World Premieres created in quarantined “ballet bubbles” and performed by ABT’s incredible dancers. The adventurous and imaginative creators included choreographers Gemma Bond, Darrell Grand Moultrie, Christopher Rudd and Pam Tanowitz. These new works, featuring diverse casts and inclusive themes, were contextualized with behind-the-scenes footage and conversations with the artists.
ABT Today marked the public launch of ABT RISE (Representation and Inclusion Sustain Excellence), and all funds raised were directed to supporting people and programs that advance diversity, equity and inclusion on and off the stage.
