Hidden Talent Week

The dancers of American Ballet Theatre are among the most talented ballet dancers in the whole world. Their talent on the stage is without question, but did you know that many of ABT’s dancers are accomplished in much more than just ballet?

This week, ABTKids Daily explores the hidden talents of four ABT dancers! Meet an artist, baker, hockey player and even a clown! Are any of them talented enough to quit their day jobs?

Meet An Artist Monday

Javier Rivet

Meet ABT dancer Javier Rivet as he shares his hidden talent as a visual artist. This week we gave Javier the challenge to redesign our ABTKids logo – Let’s see if he was up to the challenge!

Meet A Baker Tuesday

Emily Hayes

Meet ABT dancer Emily Hayes, who can be found cooking and baking on her Youtube channel “Made by Mily”. In December, Emily wowed us with her Nutcracker Cake Pops and she rejoins ABTKids Daily this week with 5 Ballerina Approved Recipes that are Healthy and Delicious!

Meet A Hockey Player Wednesday

Marshall Whiteley

Before beginning a career in ballet, ABT dancer Marshall Whiteley was a nationally ranked ice hockey player by the age of 11. While it’s been a few years since Marshall’s hit the ice, let’s see if hockey is still one of Marshall’s hidden talents as he picks up the hockey stick for the first time in years.

Meet A Clown Thursday

Claire Davison

Finally, every ballet Company needs to have a trained circus performer! Meet ABT dancer Claire Davison as she teaches you how to juggle, act like a mime, and more!

Find Your Hidden Talent Friday

You!

Today’s the day to explore your hidden talent! Are you a poet? Can you build houses made out of a deck of cards? Say the alphabet backwards? Drive your parents crazy by singing “Old Town Road” over and over and superfast?

If you can’t think of a talent right now, join Ananya and see if you can build an instrument from items found around the house. Practice your technique and hold a performance for the entire family. Don’t forget to take a giant bow after your standing ovation!

ABT JKO School Children's Division Online Community Classes

In the Spring of 2020, @ABTSchool launched virtual classes taught by former ABT dancers, ABT JKO School faculty and ABT teaching artists – all certified in the ABT National Training Curriculum.

Recommended for ages 2-4 and 5-8, these classes engage ABT’s youngest students and their families, as well as the global community at large, by exploring musicality, fostering creativity and imagination, and teaching ballet fundamentals.
