The first ballet Jerome Robbins ever choreographed, Fancy Free is an American classic. While a young dancer at American Ballet Theatre, Robbins collaborated with Leonard Bernstein to create a narrative ballet that was an instant success. This playful tale of three sailors on leave in New York City inspired the hugely successful musical On The Town.

"...a masterpiece, an abiding joy."

- Clement Crisp, Financial Times

"Happily, verve was bursting out all over in Fancy Free...precise, sexy and funny."

- Anna Kisselgoff, The New York Times

"A tremendous slice of dance theatre. One of the best loved ballets in the repertory, as joyous and perfect as ever."

- The New York Times

"It has the spontaneity and joyousness that is reflected in the Leonard Bernstein music and the totally exuberant choreography."

- Clive Barnes, New York Post
