Alexis Andrews

Alexis Arlene Andrews began her ballet training in Reno, Nevada, under the direction of Maggie Banks, Dr. Barbara Land, and Alexander Van Alstyne. She continued her studies at Walnut Hill School for the Arts (Class of 2001) under the direction of Michael Owen and later trained at the American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, San Francisco Ballet School, and Joffrey Ballet School.

Andrews earned a Master of Arts in Teaching Dance in the Professions from New York University Steinhardt in partnership with American Ballet Theatre’s Pedagogy Program, where she received the Outstanding Achievement in Graduate Dance Education Award. She is an ABT Certified Teacher in Pre-Primary through Level 7 of the ABT National Training Curriculum. In 2023, she was invited to serve on both the ABT National Training Curriculum Board of Examiners and the ABT National Training Curriculum Advisory Board, reflecting her commitment to excellence in ballet pedagogy and teacher education.

A dedicated educator, Andrews has taught throughout New York City since 2013, with faculty appointments at Hunter College Elementary School, Peridance Center, Steps on Broadway, and Dance Theatre of Harlem and currently the high school Frank Sinatra School for the Arts. She became faculty of the ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School Children’s Division in 2013, where she is committed to fostering strong technical foundations, artistry, and a lifelong appreciation for classical ballet in the next generation of dancers.
