Flavio Salazar
Biography
Flavio Salazar is a native of Colombia, where he began his dance training at the Instituto Colombiano de Ballet (Incolballet). He danced with Ballet de Cali and later joined the faculty of Incolballet after earning certification in Ballet Methodology and Pedagogy from the National Ballet of Cuba. He continued his training at the Houston Ballet Academy on scholarship before joining Ballet Arizona. He later became a member of American Ballet Theatre, where he enjoyed a distinguished performing career, dancing an extensive range of the Company’s repertoire. Following his performing career, Salazar became an American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum Certified Teacher, completing certification in Primary through Level 7. He currently serves as an ABT NTC Instructor and is a member of the ABT Examiners Board. Salazar is a teacher at the ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School and has taught the ABT National Training Curriculum in Spanish in Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay. He is a faculty member at The Ailey School, Adelphi University, and Marymount Manhattan College.
