As the global health crisis made it impossible for our 80th Anniversary season at The Metropolitan Opera House to continue as planned, American Ballet Theatre OffStage: A 2020 Virtual Season brought artistry of ABT into homes everywhere.
Join us in celebrating the 35th Anniversary of Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet! Against the sumptuous setting of Renaissance Italy, Kenneth MacMillan weaves a “dance tapestry rich in character that is rhapsodic and sensuous” (The New York Times). Sergei Prokofiev’s unforgettable music underscores the beauty and passion of this beloved ballet and its star-crossed lovers. Explore the Romeo and Juliet program including a conversation with Misty Copeland and Calvin Royal III. The dancers were scheduled to perform the title roles in Romeo and Juliet, the first time in ABT history that two black artists would dance these iconic roles together.
